Amid the Coronavirus Shutdown, Animal Shelters "Retail Rescue" are doing an awful lot of complaining despite the fact that most of them really should have shut themselves down years ago when their available "product" dried up. That would have been the moral thing to do anyway. However, some of their animal rights partners such as ASPCA and Petco Foundation are now spreading the wealth, millions of dollars aimed at keeping their Retail Rescue network infrastructure alive and well. Obviously they are banking on being able to ride this whole thing out and then ramp up operations, i.e. FUNDRAISING, as quickly as possible. Even as Retail Rescue is considered "essential" for whatever reason, they are actively populating any "product" they can obtain inside of their network of foster homes.
We Must NOT Forget What Retail Rescue Has Really Been Up To All These Years
Pictured here is a shelter transfer point in Colorado. The parking lot was staffed full of local Retail Rescue transporters. Some of the dogs were unloaded and then quickly whisked away within less than hour, we may assume to their new retail outlet destinations. The remaining dogs were then brought into Petco for vaccinations! This particular shelter transfer van had Pennsylvania plates, meaning those UN-vaccinated and possibly sick dogs were being trafficked across the country and into the state without health certificates or prior veterinary inspection!
1. How much will the shutdown affect their importation, smuggling, and trafficking?
2. Where will they source enough "product" so they can continue to swindle the pet-loving American public?
Cute Puppies for Adoption/Sale
In their own words, breeding their own supply is actually considered to be a best practice, as it were. Fraudulent one would think. Yet, when has that ever stopped them?! If their track record is any clue, we may assume that Retail Rescue will come out of the Coronovirus Shutdown with a lot of cute puppies ready for "adoption", i.e. sale. Historically, Retail Rescue has been getting away with importing, smuggling, and then laundering their smuggled merchandise throughout our states for years, maliciously misrepresenting the animal market in order to fool everyone into believing there is actually a need for such a lucrative "service". Go figure.
In the near future, our lawmakers and complicit governing agencies are going to have to stop looking the other way and start taking a hard look at what exactly is going on in both these foster homes and throughout Retail Rescue's vast network of volunteers. Why exactly are these Retail Rescuers not being prosecuted?
WHAT YOU CAN DO
It is not just bad and selfish and greedy Laws promoted by Animal Rights Organizations and their Retail Rescue partners we need to be concerned about. Our culture at large is under attack. When Animal Rights Activists harass and force companies to submit to their will, we all lose. And that is exactly what has happened here with Alaska Airlines severing its sponsorship of the Iditarod Dog Sled Race.
PeTA (The People for the ethical Treatment of Animals) has successfully emasculated Alaska Airlines. Apparently, someone at the Alaska Airlines lacked the fortitude and integrity to stand up to these attention-seeking activists after protests and whatever else it is that they do.
The recent Alaska Airlines decision to dump the Iditarod really is a slap-in-the-face to America. It is an assault on our proud heritage of animal ownership, animal husbandry, and the beautiful symbiotic relationship that mankind and animals have enjoyed for thousands and thousands of years. Enter the emaciated worldview of PeTA, which pulls endless graphic publicity stunts in order to agitate our society,...and of course, to procure millions of dollars in donations. The Alaska Airlines decision to drop the sponsorship of The Iditarod illustrates a lack of principle, decency, and good taste. And all for what? Alaska Airlines got a lousy box of vegan chocolates. Print THAT on a t-shirt!
The lesson: No organization should ever bow down to animal rights activists and their ridiculous political correctness. Ever.

Retail Rescue Enforcement: Colorado SB20-104 as a Case Study on the Dual loyalties of Animal Control
First thing first...
We must stop calling Animal Control “Animal Control” or “Animal Welfare Agents”. Colorado SB20-104 “Powers of Bureau of Animal Protection Agents” proves that we can NOT trust them. At. All. They are entirely something else. Animal Control IS “Retail Rescue Enforcement”.
SB20-104 publicly revealed something most of us have been unwilling to accept: The chilling reality that Law Enforcement has been effectively infiltrated and its Animal Control Agencies compromised by Animal Rights ideology and Retail Rescue corruption.
Quickly, the agenda behind Colorado SB20-104 is to override a “White Paper” opinion by the Colorado State Attorney General in 2015. Subsequently, the new rules thankfully rolled back the number of investigations, confiscation and impounding of animals by Retail Rescue Enforcement to roughly a quarter of what it was before. They then had to rely on actual law enforcement to oversee their duties, as they were. However, SB20-104 unties the hands of these ruthless Animal Control-Retail Rescue Enforcement Agents, granting them the full power and authority of a Peace Officer. It also encourages Retail Rescue to steal your animal using a pathetically low standard of Probable Cause. AS IF that has ever stopped them….it gets worse.
As such, Retail Rescue will also will be given the authority for one of their shill Rescue Retail Veterinarians to kill your dog WITHOUT a Court Order!

The Committee Hearing
The Local Government Committee Hearing on February 11, 2020 revealed just how sinister the agenda of Retail Rescue really is... Click here for the Recording
During supporting testimony, the President of the Colorado Association of Animal Control Officers had this to say:
“As you are all aware, we were recently voted 4th in the nation. I think we can move up. I think this bill is one step closer to where we can be in being number one in animal protection-animal rights here in the state of CO.” [emphasis added]
– Dave Lewis, President of the Colorado Association of Animal Control Officers (CAACO) quoting a ranking from the Animal Legal Defense Fund, an animal rights activist group. Note that Dave Lewis, Jr. is a supervisor at the Englewood Police Department and a Colorado Bureau of Protection Agent.
The testimony went on to expose that every single one of bill’s supporters were all in very thick with Retail Rescue. Every single one of these usurpers were from the lucrative “non-profit” humane societies, Denver Dumb Friends League, etc…i.e. Retail Rescue!
In reality, these “law enforcement” departments are full of animal rightists and they are committed to working for Retail Rescue in both enforcement AND administration. They promote hostile agendas at every level of government that undermines and threatens ALL animal ownership for their own gain. In truth, Animal Control has today become the enforcement arm of the humane society retail rescue rackets, HSUS, PeTA, ALF, et al.
Now just because there may be one or two good ones to be found out there somewhere, PLEASE DO NOT allow yourself to be disarmed. Just as these activist agents portrayed themselves to be competent in the committee hearing, they will often appear to be well-spoken and polished, charming and caring public servants dedicated to so-called “animal welfare”. However, behind the mask is a ruthless despot that is both a relentless usurper of the Law, who is also responsible for managing the operations of the corrupt empire of Retail Rescue. We must remember that most con artists also appear competent as they flatter, scheme, and prey upon your good will. Just look at those within the Retail Rescue syndicate. They are very good at what they do. Even Animal Rights activists can sometimes convincingly tug on your heartstrings so you'll get out your checkbook. So why would we expect that a “commissioned” law enforcement working for these “non-profits” be any different?! Be on guard. Always.
What to do:
It is important that you call your State Legislators immediately and inform them of these crucial facts. The bill must be defeated at all costs. The tables must be turned. Unfortunately, the usual defensive lobbying is no longer an option anymore as YOUR RIGHTS to Due Process have already been largely destroyed by these activist enforcers. Offense is your only option remaining. So CALL your lawmakers TODAY! Most of the time it only takes a 2-3 minute phone call to their assistants. Or just send them these cartoons. Share far and wide!
Use the points below if you are asked any questions. Click HERE to Find Your Legislators.
Here are some reasons why lawmakers should oppose the bill:
Colorado made shelter dogs and cats the Official State Pet in 2013. The legislation was promoted by the usual suspects: Retail Rescue. Now most rescues and animal shelters ran out of dogs years ago because most everyone sterilizes their pets and our society simply changed. Instead of going out of business and calling it a success, the shelters changed course and started sourcing for new ways to make money. According to the USDA in 2019, now over one million animals are smuggled and trafficked into the U.S. each year, just to keep the shelves of “non-profit” Retail Rescue stocked with new merchandise. Even IF veterinary care is provided, let’s face it…these animals are still a public health threat.
Think your local animal shelters are doing a good job when it comes to healthy animals? Think again!

SB20-164 is slated for its first Senate Agriculture Committee Hearing on Thursday, February 20, 2020.
On the surface, the bill resembles other types of legislation that may not go as far as other proposed “No Kill” bills that have failed in other states. However, SB20-164 is really something else. It masquerades as “socially conscious”. However, the Legislative Declaration reveals the true intent behind the bill:
“(d) Colorado has a vigorous, collaborative, and well-organized intrastate transfer program to implement this practice, resulting in the opportunity for all healthy, safe, and social dogs and cats to be placed in the community;”
That's importation folks! SB-20-164 tries to legitimize that!
Note that The Colorado Legislative Drafting Manual includes the following:
“2.7 LEGISLATIVE DECLARATIONS AND LEGISLATIVE INTENT STATEMENTS
Many times legislators or lobbyists request the inclusion of a legislative declaration or legislative intent statement in a bill. Because the statements may be used by the courts to interpret the statute or may include representations that could generate litigation, the drafter should exercise care in writing these statements.” [Emphasis Added]
That being said, the SB20-164 actually attempts to redefine and legitimize importation, smuggling, trafficking, as being socially consciously Retail Rescue Sheltering! A stamp of approval by our State Government!
In addition to re-framing the narrative on behalf of Retail Rescue, the Legislative Declaration might also afford Retail Rescue protection from litigation, regulation, and criminal prosecution of Deceptive Trade Practices, as is described in the PACFA Statute.
“(4) The failure by any person to comply with the provisions of paragraph (a) or (b) of subsection (1) of this section or paragraph (f) of subsection (2) of this section is a deceptive trade practice and is subject to the provisions of the "Colorado Consumer Protection Act", article 1 of title 6, C.R.S.
It is drawing reference to…
(f) To make any misrepresentation or false promise through advertisements, employees, agents, or otherwise in connection with the business operations licensed pursuant to this article or for which an application for a license is pending; “
In other words, when you sell/adopt dogs and swindle donors by misrepresenting imported dogs as “puppy mill” dogs, the overpopulation myth, breeders, etc. that is consumer fraud…among other violations.
The language contained in this bill is both clever and shrewd as it sure looks like a “get out of jail free card” for Retail Rescue. SB20-164 bill must be defeated.
Click on the link below and call these Senators today before the hearing. Voice your opposition to the Legislative Declaration (D) cleverly written into the language of SB20-164. Politely inform these Senators that Importation and trafficking of dogs and cats is NOT "socially conscious sheltering". The only socially conscious sheltering practice would be for Retail Rescue to be put out of business and its perpetrators brought to Justice.
Colorado Senate Agriculture & Natural Resources Committee
iThe sooner we realize what we are dealing with, the better.
A big lie!
That is how the animal rights movement managed to appropriate the "animal welfare movement", corrupted the entire concept of animal rescue, and created the Retail Rescue monster it is today. It now represents a syndicate that collectively works together to promote a scam, appropriate the pet market for its own use, and swindle 100s of millions of dollars in donations…billions of dollars nationally if we group them together. And we should...
Animal rights organizations may not operate shelters. And animal shelters may not be wholly dedicated to the Animal Rights philosophy. Both DO work together. Both make money doing the same thing. Both spread the same propaganda narrative, misrepresenting the market, slandering and libeling Animal Husbandry and Animal Commerce. That is how you take over that market. For example, most people wouldn’t be willing to buy/adopt a diseased stray or a dog sourced, smuggled, and trafficked from their own foreign “puppy mills”. Careful with that word “puppy mill” as it is a loaded term. However, by their own definition, they are sourcing foreign dogs and selling and fundraising off of an unsuspecting public. They are branding us as cruel, deviant, and greedy...when it is exactly the opposite!
Realize that both Animal Rightists Activists and Animal Shelters rub shoulders and work together at summits, symposiums, and other conventions.
Both are rolling in sweaty cash, perverting our laws, and violating existing laws. And both are in thick with Animal Control agencies across the U.S., training and stacking law enforcement with their “non-profit” commissioned agents/activists. Animal Control now represents the main enforcement mechanism for Retail Rescue. No one is doing anything to investigate just how bad it really is.
Thus far, our government refuses to deal with the Retail Rescue problem for what it is: A syndicate. A con.
Retail Rescue and its affiliates needs to be properly and OBJECTIVELY investigated, shut down, and its perpetrators brought to Justice. Our government needs to clean house of all Retail Rescue enforcers (aka, Animal Control) and also bring them to Justice for their abuses of authority.
Animal Rightists + Animal Shelters/Rescues = “Retail Rescue”. Add to that Animal Control and its Retail Rescue Activism...
As you can see, there is a serious problem.
The threat to our Pets, Animals, and Livestock is real!
Stop saying “Responsible Breeder”.
Yep! I said it.
And stop using other terms too. More on that below.
My stomach turned as I recently just read an open letter to breeders being proffered and circulated over the Internet. I am sure it was well-intended. We have also seen the sanctimonious FB posts over the years. I know. I have authored several gratuitously sanctimonious posts myself!
Up till recently, I would have agreed with the author. My former elitist self would have been right there sharing and commenting with my nose stuck high in the air in self-righteous indignation. How dare you not do every health test! How dare you breed a bitch more than twice, let alone more than two cycles in a row! How dare you you reckless backyard breeder! How dare you!…the list goes on and on.
I am just as guilty as anyone of falling into the trap of Political Correctness when it comes to the sport I love. However, we are being beat up by some very bad people. We are also beating each other up. Over time, I have had to humble myself and reevaluate what we do so I can finally “see the forest through trees”. Now that I have been showing and breeding AND invested in the politics of Animal Husbandry and Commerce long enough, I now know better. The big picture tells us that our Rights are FAR more important than any opinion we may or may not have of breeding and showing, how much money we have, our experience, success, levels of commitment, etc.
No Rights to Animal Husbandry and Commerce, No “betterment of the breed.”
It is just that simple.
…that is a loaded phrase by the way. [“betterment of the breed”]
Over the years a Politically Correct narrative has proliferated and become part of the vocabulary of the Dog Fancy. Some of these terms were crafted and focus-grouped by the animal rightists and their animal shelter partners, i.e. “Retail Rescue”. Others terms we created ourselves. That has ended up sabotaging everything we enjoy in the Dog Fancy. Some of these terms roll off the tongue with just a little too much ease. As a result, we play right into the hands of Retail Rescue as its activists and enforcers roll in sweaty cash at our expense.
We really need to stop cannibalize each other.
So here are some terms that you must STOP using. Get them OUT of your vocabulary. As in yesterday.
“Puppy mill “
What is it? Everything. All of us. If anyone is guilty of catering to puppy mills, it is Retail Rescue. They are the ones sourcing from foreign "puppy mills". That and sickly strays. They have no accountability. We do. “Puppy mill” is a stupid term. It is their word. Stop using it.
“Over population problem”
Not for a long time, otherwise Retail Rescue wouldn’t be importing over a million dogs per year into the United States to keep their shelves stocked with product. (See USDA Report on the Live Importation of Dogs into the United States, June 25, 2019)
Right. And the word "responsible" is probably THE most self-righteous way to segment and isolate ourselves. Everyone has a different story. Let’s not delude ourselves by saying that just because someone does not have a state-of-the-art kennel, they are somehow cruel or irresponsible or a “backyard breeder”,...whatever that means. You are playing right into their hands. Just stop.
Ultimately, We the People are all equal under the Law and equal in the eyes of God. Now if someone is truly cruel and criminal (as Retail Rescue obviously is) that is different. We should be mature and confident enough to know better, to know the difference.
The term has been appropriated by Retail Rescue. It was originally intended to differentiate between Animal Rights and the rest of us that actually DO care about the welfare of animals. Our enemies simply started using it too. They took it for themselves. It's what they do. Therefore, "animal welfare" doesn’t mean anything anymore.
“Betterment of the breed”
…this should be matter of fact. It does not need to be mentioned, let alone preached. And let us not forget that Animal Husbandry is a skill. What's more, everyone is at a different stage of experience and knowledge. We all had training wheels at one time. And the best of us occasionally have to put those training wheels back on! Perspective folks. Animal Husbandry is humbling. You should be too.
Never had an accidental breeding? Good for you. Now be a cool person to those who have. Offer to help them tie their shoes instead of burning them in effigy.
“Breeding for money”
Good one! Congratulations on being independently wealthy. Should the rest of us Dog Fanciers stop breeding for poverty?! Perhaps you wealthy Dog Fanciers could contribute just a few pennies here ‘n there to fight legislation in between your self-congratulatory social-climbing and quest for Best in Shows and #1 Dog All Systems? I am going to continue...
Seriously! Unless you already have a fortune and most of us do NOT, then YOU BETTER BE BREEDING FOR MONEY…if only just for the cash flow to pour right back into your program. You also have to be prepared. For anything! Animal Husbandry is expensive. However, if you are able to breed and sell enough dogs to supply the general public so people don’t feel like they have to “adopt” some diseased shelter import from Retail Rescue, by all means…breed for lots of money! Do it. Breed for money. Contribute your amazing dogs in exchange for well-earned dollars. That is called Mutual Exchange. That is called Capitalism. That is Liberty! That is called improving the lives of families that want beautiful dogs. No one gets something for nothing unless you are a swindler. Or as a friend of mine likes to say: “If you charge nothing, you are worth nothing.” Breed for money. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!
Ok. Now that we have successfully erased these terms from the Politically Correct Animal Dictionary of Terms and Other Divisive Disorders, our philosophy and narrative going forward should be this:
“I am an American that loves to breed and show dogs.”
It’s what you do. You don’t owe anyone an explanation. Be matter of fact and move on.
Don’t be a politically correct ass. You can’t win with these loaded terms and narratives. That is their game. So, don’t even try.
Support each other.
You will rise above.
All the best and God Bless!

Dog Fanciers Action Network
On February 3, 2020, Dog Fanciers just barely defeated Colorado HB 20-1084 (the so-called "Humane Pet Act") in the State House of Rural Affairs & Agriculture Committee by a 6-5 vote. Only a single Democrat crossed over to do the right thing.
This atrocious bill was much more than a wake-up call for all of us. Our very existence was at stake! However, we corrected the record and placed Retail Rescue on the defense. It was a victory. They may be nursing a black eye. However, they are now out for blood. They want a monopoly over the animal markets and they want to destroy us.
What a lot of Dog Fanciers are uncomfortable with is that our very existence IS at stake! In fact, we are now so under attack that if we do not win the war that has been declared upon us, we will quite literally lose everything. And THAT is exactly what they want.
Rescue Retail really does intend to profiteer at our expense. We are hated. Read any of their posts or articles and you will see just how much hate they have in their hearts for all of us. They will say and do anything to make us look bad. They lie. The cheat. And they do not sleep.
Whether we like it or not, We the Dog Fancy face an existential threat from an enemy that intends to end us.
The future will not be a good once they become our overlords.
Unfortunately, many of us Dog Fanciers have made the mistake of thinking that we are safe as so-called “hobby breeders”. We may procure an “exempt” status here ‘n there in some of these corrupt pieces of legislation, but that is all it really means. Your Rights and life have been relegated to a mere “exemption” status. You are an afterthought for the time being. And that can and will be taken away. We all know that the terms “puppy mill”, “backyard breeder”, etc. are fluid terms that can be used to brand us at any time, any place, and by anyone that seeks to exploit us and get us out of their way. So… the hard lesson is that we are not safe. Not. At. All.
I wrote the following to help the Dog Fancy understand Colorado HB 1084 and what they needed to know in order to defeat it. It speaks volumes about understanding the enemy we are facing. You will need it to arm yourselves with knowledge and talking points. I am also attaching a link to the recording of the hearing where I testified in opposition to HB 1084. I was the very last to testify at the hearing.
You can hear my short two-minute opening statement as well as my answer to a question about Retail Rescue starting at 5:11:30 on the timeline. I tried not to repeat or take away from the excellent testimony and facts that came from other patriots before me. Rather, my goal was to fill in some of the gaps from that day and provide an overall history and context. I really appreciated the opportunity to define and describe “Retail Rescue” to the legislators. In the days ahead, they will need to learn much more about this syndicate.
HB 1084 Outlaws Legitimate Animal Husbandry and Commerce and instead grants monopoly power to Retail Rescue and Militant Animal Rightist Activism.
Therefore, HB 1084 is an existential threat.
Retail Rescue Definition: Animal Rightists + Animal Shelters/Rescues = “Retail Rescue”.
They are all working together to appropriate and take over the pet market.
History: For years, Animal Rights Activists and their Retail Rescue counterparts in the Animal Shelter Industry have very carefully crafted and coordinated a false and malicious narrative that has been used very successfully to lobby for intrusive laws; which in turn have been used to greatly burden and harass legitimate breeders, commercial breeders, pet stores, and other Agriculture and Livestock related industries. This agenda has not merely enabled them to assault the legitimacy and insult the hard work we do. It has allowed them to warp State Law to chisel around the edges to encroach upon all animal ownership, agriculture, pets, and livestock. Now that it has just been introduced, HB1084 represents is the most aggressive attack to-date upon the legitimacy of Agriculture, Animal industries, the safety of Public and Animal Health, as well as the Rights of the breeder, producer, AND the consumer.
HB 1084 is a major priority!
It must be defeated at all costs.
Here are some talking points to defeat this bill:
I will repeat: You are NOT safe! None of us are. We must inform ourselves and each do our part to take the battle to them.
All the best and God Bless!
